Many choose to see a therapist when they are feeling stuck or when they have gone through a hardship. Others may inquire about therapy at a time when they just need a new perspective into their lives. No matter what brings you into therapy, the choice you make to take that step is one taken by many before you. You are not alone. As a therapist, I would love to walk with you through whatever you may be encountering at this time in your life.
My approach to therapy comes out of a strengths-based perspective. I want to help the client best utilize positive relationships and resources that are already present in their life. I also work through a trauma-informed lens. Even small traumatic events can shape a person’s life, but healing from trauma can change the course of an individual’s well-being. I am personally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and utilize EMDR with individuals who have experienced trauma, big or small. I understand that the most important part of therapy is the therapeutic relationship. The bond between client and therapist allows the client to experience trust and empathy, acknowledge pain and heartache, and walk towards healing.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. My areas of interest include childhood or adult-onset trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transition, behavioral disorders in children, and attachment issues.
