Life presents many challenges at all stages and we often need help getting through hard times or struggling over large obstacles that stand in our way of fulfillment. As a therapist, I offer support and provide a safe space to get through those times.
Whatever the reason a person decides to seek counseling, I enter into the relationship with respect and appreciation. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is a collaborative one and the foundation of the therapeutic process. From that place, I work with clients to explore areas of their lives that are causing pain or discomfort. I believe every individual is different and pulls upon different strengths to manage their lives and it is my goal to help clients find those strengths and build upon them to create personal growth, empowerment and greater life satisfaction.
I earned a master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Georgia State University. I have been trained in crisis intervention, trauma therapy, play therapy, stress management, addiction counseling, group counseling, family therapy, and many other areas. I come to Heartwork Counseling Center with experience working with children, adolescents and adults around issues such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, addiction recovery, trauma, sexual identity, divorce, anger management and eating disorders.
I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents, especially using play therapy. Childhood and adolescence brings about unique challenges and I believe kids often need an adult ally to provide a safe place to sort through difficult feelings.
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
