“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It does not matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come… Beyond the rightness and the wrongness of things, there is a field. I will meet you there”

RUMI

As a therapist, my position allows me to work with individuals who are struggling with a challenge or a concern in their lives and considering making a change. Regardless of how big or small this concern might be for you, I welcome you to the rewarding personal journey of counseling.

My clients come to me with different struggles and expectations. I work with people who are troubled with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, grief/loss, life transitions, childhood and current trauma, acculturation, sexual identity, and many other concerns. And because of this variety, I tailor each session according to your needs, and draw from a large range of approaches to assist you in resolving your concerns and meeting your goals in therapy.

My theoretical orientation to individual, couples, and group therapy is mainly experiential. Simply, we focus on how you experience yourself, your life, and your challenges; and then examine how you make meaning of these experiences.

Sometimes we lose the sight of the sense of meaning in our lives, and if this is the case, together we can reestablish this meaning for you so that you will have a strong sense of significance, and live a satisfying life. Together, with genuineness and trust, we can “set you free” from whatever might be keeping you from reaching your potential.

You mean more to me than an appointment on my daily planner. You matter to me as a person. I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you. The relationship between you and I in this immediate moment…  Nothing takes precedence over this relationship. I believe that the quality of this person to person encounter in the therapeutic situation is the catalyst for positive change. Think of this relationship as a shared journey. This is your journey, and I am a fellow traveler right beside you guiding you throughout this experience.

Being a therapist, I find that there comes a time in therapy where everything fades away in distance; credentials, diplomas, positions, ranks, the therapist-client roles we play, etc. And what is left in that moment is two people in the realm of complete genuineness and authenticity, revealing their humaneness to one another, showing their vulnerabilities, fears, and anxieties. Two people, stripped away from all the ego defenses, are relating to one another, making genuine interpersonal contact. This is the field on which the healing occurs.

Again, welcome…

This is your journey.

In this journey, you are free.
