Linda M. Pugh, MS, NCC, LAPC
People seek counseling or therapy for many reasons. Some may have a major life change, such as divorce, death, or loss of income, some may have a need to address a relational issue, such as communication, while others may come in for help with anxiety or depression. Regardless of the reason for pursuing therapy, clients are simply ordinary people who find themselves struggling with common, everyday problems that can be overcome.
My Training and Approach to Therapy
I earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business, a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. I have been trained in a number of areas, including individual and family therapy, group counseling, crisis intervention, addiction recovery, substance abuse and addiction, and clinical assessing & diagnosing. I have experience in the following areas: stress management, career/work issues, anger management, behavioral issues, family/parenting issues, adult mental health issues (i.e. depression, loss/grief, and anxiety) and child mental health issues (i.e. grief/loss, developmental disparities, autism-spectrum disorders, attention deficiencies).
As a clinician, I utilize person-centered and solution focused approaches to therapy and rely heavily upon the Strengths Perspective. I will tailor sessions to meet your personal needs and collaborate with you to identify and maximize your strengths in an effort to explore the most effective approaches to overcoming your struggles. Together we will review past events and examine your belief/value system in order to bring you to a more comfortable place in life. As part of your journey, you will gain better coping skills, relationship skills, and discover a greater sense of hope, self-awareness, and life satisfaction. It is my pleasure to join you in this process of discovery.
I adhere to the American Counselor Association’s Code of Ethics. I also answer to the ethical and professional standards of the Georgia State Composite Board for LAPC, LPC, MFT, and MSWs.
